Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE — TODO]
Placeholder: this policy is a draft skeleton and has
not been reviewed by a lawyer. It reflects Jacl's intended local-first
design but must be completed and verified before launch.
The short version
Jacl is built local-first. Your meeting audio, transcripts, tasks, email content, and reminders are processed and stored on your device by default. We do not receive them, and we cannot see them.
What stays on your device
- Meeting recordings and transcripts
- Summaries, tasks, and reminders generated by the local LLM
- Email and message content you connect to Jacl
- Your search index and app settings
Optional cloud AI
If you choose to configure a cloud model (such as Claude or ChatGPT), the text needed for that specific request is sent to the provider you selected, under that provider's terms. This is off by default and controlled entirely by you.
What we do collect
- License and purchase data — handled by our payments partner, Polar ([link to Polar privacy policy — TODO]). We receive what is needed to issue and validate your license (e.g. your email and license status).
- Website analytics — this website uses privacy-aware analytics (PostHog and Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand aggregate usage. [Complete details, retention, and any consent mechanism — TODO.]
- Crash / diagnostic reports — [describe if/what the app sends, and whether it is opt-in — TODO.]
Your responsibilities when recording
Recording laws vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required from meeting participants before recording.
